The Parish of Buxted and Hadlow Down in East Sussex is a single parish with three parish churches: St Margaret the Queen in Buxted Park, St Mary the Virgin in Buxted, and St Mark the Evangelist in Hadlow Down. We glory in what unites us and in what makes us special.

If you are gluten intolerant and wish to receive a gluten free wafer at communion, cards, which you can take to the altar rail to indicate your preference, are available in all three churches. Father John Barker has suggested three charities which should be promoted for the Lent Buxted and Hadlow Down Charity for 2017. Please indicate clearly which one of the three named charities you would wish to receive donations The poll will close at 1700 on Saturday so that the chosen charity can be announced at all three churches on Sunday morning. AN EXPLORATION OF THE BIBLE. As part of our Diocese Year of the Bible, everybody is invited to join "An Exploration of The Bible" led by Bishop Richard Jackson at The Ascension Church, Vale Road, Haywards Heath RH16 4JS on February 11th 2017 from 10.00 for 10.30 to 3.00. You should bring your own lunch - tea and coffee will be available. The format will be as follows: Session 1- The Bible - an overview; Session 2 -What about the smiting!; Session 3 - It’s all about interpretation (is there ever a right answer?)
CHICHESTER CATHEDRAL RETREAT. The Chichester Cathedral Retreat, from 17th to 19th March 2017, will be led by the Bishop of Horsham, the Right Reverend Mark Sowerby with the theme of "Vocations". This annual weekend consists of short talks and time for silent prayer and rest. For the fourth consecutive year the venue will be the beautiful and comfortable retreat house of Ladywell Convent in Godalming. Total cost £155. LENT COURSE 2017. As usual, we will have a series of meetings throughout Lent. We will be following the Diocese Course “Hear the Word of the Lord”, part of the Year of the Bible. Meetings will be held in the Church Hall on Thursday evenings as follows: 9th March Meal followed by "Bible overview", 16th March "The Torah", the first five books of the Old Testament, 23rd March "The Prophets", 30th March "The Gospels", 5th April "The New Testament Letters" Each week there will be a recorded introduction prepared by the Diocese followed by open discussion and reflection. Please consider setting aside time during Lent to learn more about the Bible. More details closer to the time.
CONFIRMATION SERVICE. Bishop Richard is proposing to hold a Confirmation Service for all churches in the Uckfield Deanery on Sunday 25th June 2017 at 4pm. If you know of anybody who may be interested in becoming a confirmed member of the Church of England please encourage them to click on Fr John for more details

A quiet, reflective service celebrating the Lord's Supper.
If there is a United Parish Eucharist on the 5th Sunday, then the 8.00 am service may not take place (see the calendar)
Parish Eucharist CW
Celebration of the Lord's Supper with sermon and hymns. The children's Sunday Club will usually happen during this service.
Sung Morning Prayer with sermon
An informal service with participation of our younger members and the Music group. Will usually include Holy Communion.
