Visiting St Margaret’s

We are delighted to welcome you to our lovely church in Buxted.  Our nearest postcode is TN22 4AY.

Keeping our church open for visitors is very important to us.  The church is open all day between 9:00 am and dusk.  St Margaret's receives a steady stream of visitors as a result of its historical interest.  There is also a well-frequented part of the Wealdway footpath which passes through the churchyard linking to a network of footpaths in Buxted Park.

On the attached map it appears that our church is in a field!  We are actually situated in parkland attached to the Buxted Park Hotel. (Please see our history page if you want to find out why our church is so far from the village of Buxted)

Please find instructions below this map.

As you can see the church is close to the A272.  Approaching from the Coopers Green crossroads you will pass turnings on the left to a farm shop and a trout fishery.  The drive to the church is on the right just before the left turn to High Hurstwood and Buxted Primary school.  You will see a sign directing you both to our church (sign says "13th Century Historic Church") and to the Buxted Park Hotel.  Please follow this sign, driving through a pair of gateposts, and passing a cricket pitch on your left.  The church is along this drive.

Approaching from the direction of either Mayfield or Heathfield, you will drive through the village of Buxted, and under the railway line, passing Buxted station on your right.  The drive to the church is on the left just after the right turn to High Hurstwood and Buxted Primary school.  You will see a sign directing you both to our church (sign says "13th Century Historic Church") and to the Buxted Park Hotel.  Please follow this sign, driving through a pair of gateposts, and passing a cricket pitch on your left.  The church is along this drive.
